I've had to hunt , spy, and stalk to get this picture.
Brandon Hanson, our Marketing Manager is an elusive person to catch. It took me three weeks of patiently lying in wait to get the shot.......without further ado, here is THE Picture of Brandon Hanson. (Special Thanks to our followers who correctly noted that there wasn't a picture to go with Brandon's interview a few weeks back!!!!)
"Very personable service. Someone always calls me by my first name, they remember what I purchased. Just love this store. Its just like family. They are always ready to help with any sewing issue I might have. They also give lots of great suggestions." -Anonymous
Testimony Number Two!!!!
"Everyone is always ready to help you when you come in. If they can't answer something, they will find an answer for you! Also, they are always ready to help me spend my money!!! Always a pleasant experience in your store and usually learn something when I leave."
Come in and see for yourself!!!!!
Third and final Testimony for us today is.....
"We came to buy sewing machine needles for our daughter-in-law for Christmas and Daniel helped us with that. Because Vern and Daniel were so busy with other customers, my husband and I had a chance to look around the store. When Daniel was done helping his customer, he asked if he could help us with anything else. We asked if he had certain machine and he said yes. So he took the time to show us one and demonstrated some of it's features and answered our questions. Vern then had time to answer some of our questions, too. We came back after lunch with my trade-in f that will be updated We were very happy with the trade-in allowance Vern offered us. I just received the call to say that my machine is ready for me to come pick it up and start embroiderying!!! We are so happy that A-Best is located right here in Albert Lea and always has such good customer service and products!!!"
Keep the fun going and see you tomorrow for Round Up Wednesday !!!
Time for another week of fun!!! We will be putting Up another Staff Member Interview Today and also We will go over Another Round of my Sewing Don'ts Part 2. Feel free to chime in!!!! Let get Started with.....
6. DON’T look for every bell and whistle available on a new sewing machine; find one that works for you. (As a matter of fact, Come in To A-Best and let us help you find the perfect machine for your kind of fun!!!!)
7. DON’T iron with a dirty faceplate.
Do people really do that?!!!! Ewwwwww
8. DON’T beat yourself up is your garment doesn’t come out the way you’d hoped. (I am Sew new with this that it happens every time)
9. DON’T sew under poor light.
Yes, people will do this but it really limits
your ability to pay attention to details.......
10. DON’T put water in your iron if you’re ironing a fabric that’s water-stainable. (You don't want to mess anything up!!!!!)
Thanks for staying with us today and we'll see each other tomorrow for...... Testimony Tuesday!!!!!!
And that means you need more projects to work on, so here we go.......
Thanks again and have wonderful Weekend!!! See you Monday For Small Talk.
That means we will be mentioning some of the little tools that don't often get a lot of attention....
10. Seam Ripper and Tweezers
Seam Ripper is your best friend, believe me or not! His primary purpose is to cut seams, both wrong seams (think when you sew together wrong sides instead Right Sides Facing… how many times!!) or existing seams on garments to be refashioned; you’ll find it useful to open your buttonholes if you’ve made them with a sewing machine!
Tweezers come with your Serger for a reason: you’ll find them essential to thread your needles and loopers unless you have really tiny fingers!!!
This is one other marking tool I use. There’s a specific tailor’s chalk you can use but I often run out of it (or break it into one hundred tiny pieces… I hate it), so always keep a couple of boxes of plain chalk, the one you can use on regular chalkboard: it’s cheap, comes in many colours and is good for most situations! The only fact against it is that the markings won’t last long, so use it when you expect to finish your sewing project within the day, just to be sure!
Remember: Check if it leaves traces, trying to brush it out
before marking all your fabric.
12. Lint Roller
I love this (unusual) sewing tool! You can use it to keep your project clean from bits of thread wandering after using your seam ripper… or if you don’t have a thread catcher (or you own it but still have to get in the habit of using it, like me – so your project acts as a thread catcher itself!).
13. Sewing Gauge and Binder Clips
This Sewing Gauge is a new entry in my sewing tools stash:
it is a multipurpose gadget that helps you:
A. measure and mark hem depth
B. draw scallops and circles
C. evenly space buttonholes, tucks, and pleats
D. add seam allowances Little binder clips are useful
instead of pins for sewing leather/PUL and for keeping
together pattern pieces while already cut out.
Well I hope you all have had another great Friday!!!! Remember to check back tomorrow for Sendoff Saturday Projects!!!!
Throwback Thursday is Here Again!!!! Let's get our funny on!!!! Remember to vote for the TOP MEME!!!!
